Borrow from Other Libraries

There may be times when you want to borrow from another BC Library:

  1. You couldn’t find what you were looking for in your home library.
  2. You happen to be visiting another BC Library.

BC Interlibrary Connect

Try this option first. If you can’t find the item you are looking for in the “home” catalogue, try again by changing the library to “BC Interlibrary Connect” and clicking on “search.” After locating the item, place a hold on it just like you would do at your home library and it will be shipped to your home library. Most libraries will lend audiobooks and movies as well as books. View FAQ. [PDF]

Tip: If you are looking for a particular format (audiobook, movie, large print), make your search easier by selecting a format.

Interlibrary Loan/Illume

If you weren’t able to find the item you wanted in our library or through Interlibrary Connect, try finding it elsewhere in BC using Illume, a catalogue for all BC libraries. If you find it at another library, request it to be delivered to your home library for pick up!  Please note: this service is for books only, and items must be over a year old.

Visiting Other BC Libraries

If you’re on the road and find yourself in another BC public library, you can easily borrow items. The best part is that you can return these items to any other BC public library, so if you’re traveling through BC, it’s easy to drop items off as you go. We call this program BC OneCard. Just make sure to have your library card with you! Please note that borrowing policies may vary slightly between various libraries.
